The other night I had the strangest dream
The grass was yellow and the sun was green.

They were tryin’ to get back up to the sky above.
Reminded me of me and you and I called your name, it was then I knew

I woke up and tried to start the day
But that funny feeling wouldn't go away.

Simple
A circle has no ending, it’s not like someone planned it
It’s only physics and it just works out that way
And without a true beginning you are free to walk right in or not
At any point you find along its way
If life could be as simple as a circle
That would be alright with me
I could be swept ‘round and ‘round
Never lost, always found
Like a wheel set within a cosmic play
But nothing is as simple as a circle
And with the time that we are given we have no preset conditions
Yeah, we’re free to use it any way we choose
Though some stand upon tradition, make a life out of competition
And measure everything by what they have to lose
If only life could all be black or white
That’d be so easy so they say
The lines would be laid crisp and clear
With choices neither far nor near
But we all know that it doesn't work that way
So we mix the black and white together ‘til we get a variety of grey
In the time it takes to write this there’ll be a million new beginnings
And almost half that many endings I’ve been told
And if just one person hears it and maybe understands it
I won't feel like my time's been wasted when I’m old
Now I know life can't be as simple as a circle
And neither can it all be black or white

Cadillac Blues
There’s a Cadillac Motel out on highway 301.
You find it if you drive all night, out into the setting sun.
But it’s a home for gamblers, hustlers and their kin,
And the sign says there ain’t no vacancy, but they always let you in.
Oh and if I had to choose, to be walking all night on these broke down highway shoes,
I’ll take the Cadillac Blues…
Well I’ve been walkin’ all night and my feet are sore, and I just need a bed.
Things have knocked me down lately, I got a lot of weight on my head.
But there’s a signpost up ahead, just blinkin’ in the black,
Yeah, a neon orange cheap motel that they call the Cadillac.
Oh and if I had to choose, to be walking all night on these broke down highway shoes,
I’ll take the Cadillac Blues…
Now we all walk this highway, tryin’ to find our way back home.
We’re better off in numbers, but sometimes we gotta walk alone.
Ah but you may find you’re down in Brandywine, with the devil all up in your hair,
Just slip back into the Cadillac, ‘cause even he won’t follow you there.
